This project embodies a distant future but which in turn may be near. Eldon Tyrell chair lives in 2077, an era in which natural resources such as wood have been depleted due to their irresponsible use. The conceptualization of the project arises from the film Blade Runner where only people with a lot of money can own said material. The chair was developed from pure scraps, it consists of 5 modules which are connected with rope type cord. The legs of each module are at different angles to give the sensation of movement, as if it wanted to escape from its owner.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Biomimicry is the science that studies nature to design systems, structures, processes and / or materials. The purpose of this project consists of the ability to recreate a movement and / or action of an animal of our choice. With this in mind, the animal that served as inspiration for the creation of this project is the Mantis Shrimp or Stomatopoda (scientific name). This marine animal has an extraordinary force that allows it to hit its prey with a force equivalent to a 22 caliber bullet. The recreation of this movement was carried out based on objects that we find at home. The materials used to build it were: Rubber bands, plasti-loca, a coat rack and a piece of wood.

Cafecito is a project that seeks to reinvent the experience and aesthetics of traditional coffee makers. This project arouse from the individual capabilities to develop a coffee maker using the 3D modeling and rendering tool, Rhinocero and Key Shot. The shape of the coffee maker was inspired on the “Cold Brew Drip Tower” coffee extractor process, what differentiates cafecito from this process is the ability to heat the coffee instead of serving it cold.

The shape and form of cafecito was developed to be easily used, for example: the water container can be filed from the top by removing the crock lid or it can be removed entirely for it to be cleaned properly. There is locking mechanisms that ensure that every movable component is secure. The basket where the coffee is placed and nozzle can be placed on the serving flask for easy access to the coffee basket.

As for the materials that make up cafecito were chosen for there strength and durability, these were applied to every component using the a tool called Key Shot. Key Shot calculates the index of reflexion (IOR) of every material to make the renders even more realistic.

PHOTOGRAPHY

This project arises from the conceptualization of the steps required for the creation and execution of a project. When an idea is visualized, it is imagined as a final product, although it is first necessary to deconstruct the idea to understand its possible potential. The projects are like our children, they have within them a fragment of everyone who was involved. With time and experimentation, it will be de-built and re-built until it eventually has its own identity. The way this concept was represented was through my family and the construction of a non-existent sixth member. The new member will be created from the de-construction of characteristic factions of each member of my family to later rebuild a sixth member with the factions of each member and that this has its own identity. In the second part of the project, individual photos of each member were taken which were joined with different opacities to create the sixth member.
