CHAMBA STATION

CENTRO.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

After spending a lot of time indoors since the beginning of quarantine. The opportunity to re-design my home office station was presented. Chamba Station is a project that seeks to fit my needs as a photographer, designer, artist and student. One of the most important aspects of the project is the ergonomics of the design, it consists of 3 essential components.

A standing drafting table that has a fixed inclination of about 10º, which can also become a standing desk with a light box attached for film photography purposes. The next component is a portable cubby for storage of art materials as well as new and used paper, the cubby can fit under the drafting table to save space. Finally, there is the desk with three levels to optimize space usage. Next to the desk lies a CPU stand for easy access.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

This project arose after an accident suffered by my mother, in which she was injured from the heel to the knee. After the operation, it was very difficult for her to move from one place to another, but even more difficult to be able to move something with her, such as a brown cup. With this in mind, I began to devise a way to create a type of crutch with which you don't have to use your hands. There are already some of these products on the market. Although these imply that the user did not injure his knee in the first two images. In the case of the image on the right, the crutch helps the user to be able to use his hand but it is an atypical crutch but still requires a greater effort by its user.

DESIGN AWARDS AHEC (AMERICAN HARDWOOD EXPORT COUNCIL)

CENTRO.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

These projects were developed for a design contest that is held by the American Harwood Export Council. The requirements for the contest were simple, design a table mostly made with wood and small accents of other materials. As for the type of wood, the main type of wood that must be used is American poplar (Tulipwood) but the possibility to use American Cherry wood.

The Three tables that where designed have different concepts related to astrofísica:

1. THE PORTAL - Wormholes or wormholes are shortcuts that open in time and space. These consist of two ends connected by a single "throat" in which matter can move. Unlike black / white holes, these are not singled out at the center; it is a continuous passage.

2. GRAVITY - The representation of gravity is shown in a two-dimensional plane, although in reality it is a force that governs the three dimensions and even the fourth (time). Depending on the density of an object, the grid becomes increasingly distorted. I wanted to show this concept by giving the illusion that the wood was sinking under the weight of a metal ball in the center.

3. SINGULARITY - Arises from the white hole theory. It is a celestial object with a density such that time and space are deformed. Unlike black holes that not even light is able to escape, white holes only let matter and energy (light) escape.

PHOTOGRAPHY

MELANCHOLY HILL is a interactive photo documentary book that embodies my personal experience of the pandemic. The project starts with a QR code that must be scanned by the user that will play Times by The Pachanga Boys, this song is a reference to how long quarantine feels like. Most of the photographies change between color and black and white with the intention of representing the occasional seriousness, emotional instability and melancholy of the time.
